It is the true-life story of a drug king pin that was eventually captured and sentenced to life. The injustices that he has faced in the judicial system are very much relevant in today's political climate as the Justice Department rolls back judicial reform. It also contains a message to young black people in poverty that there is more to this world that is introduced to you in your local hoods. He shows the youth how to dig deep within to find their true calling; to shed the skin of a "nigga" and chase their dream on a path to greatness. Nate has always said that, "The hunger for a better life, has caused me my life." He is serving a life sentence for murder and the distribution of tons of cocaine that he has never been charged for. He wasn't even convicted of those crimes, but somehow has managed to get a life sentence for them. All of these events would have been avoided if Hill could have pursued his dream of becoming a lawyer, but the cards were stacked against him.
