Author Biography
Clegg, Claude Andrew (Author)
Originally from the small town of Salisbury, North Carolina, Professor Claude Andrew Clegg earned a B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and in the early 90s, went to Michigan for his graduate degree.

After reading the autobiography of Malcolm X as an undergraduate, Clegg was anxious to learn more about the man to whom Malcolm X attributed his success: the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Initially finding little information on Muhammad, Clegg devoted his graduate training and dissertation to Muhammad's life. The dissertation was published as the biography, An Original Man: The Life and Times of Elijah Muhammad.

A history teacher at North Carolina A&T State University since 1993, Claude Andrew Clegg lives in Graham, North Carolina.
