A #1 New York Times Bestselling AuthorTwo dead bodies changed the course of Kinsey Millhone's life that fall. One of them, a local PI, she knew. The other, a John Doe, she never laid eyes on until she saw him in the morgue. Two seemingly unrelated deaths. In this multilayered tale, the surfaces seem clear, but the underpinnings are full of betrayals, misunderstandings, and outright murderous fraud. And Kinsey, through no fault of her own, is thoroughly compromised.
