More Description
At age twenty six Armand, an aspiring physicist, born into a non-practicing Jewish home, made a deal with a possible God in order to get the girl of his dreams, a non-practicing Muslim girl. In return he was to try and find proof, either down in the realm of subatomic particles or up in the universe of billions of galaxies, for the reality of this possible God. God obliged. But the only proof Armand found was that quantum fluctuation could easily rule out the need for a creator God.
At age 84, retired and an amputee, Armand befriends Chris, a former tax collector. Over a period, from a few weeks before Christmas till Easter of the following year, he shares with Chris his roller coaster ride from non-believer to some out-of-the-box understandings.
Armand's verbal skirmishes with Chris - an antagonistic and embittered atheist - take place in a coffee shop, during trips in Chris' car, and a few times during pretend visits to the moon. Jane, Chris' wife, although easier to convince of certain things, starts off, like her husband, claiming religion to be plain horse-feathers. In a humorous and entertaining way, wherein some of the weird laws of quantum mechanics are used by Armand to make a case for his ideas, Armand tries to convince Chris and Jane that there is more to life than meets the eye.
