More DescriptionThe need for traceability of agricultural products is well recognised globally, especially for food safety, provenance and biosecurity. Traceability must continue to improve to demonstrate to consumers and export destinations that our products are safe, clean, and sustainable. This is necessary to meet consumer needs and maintain access to premium overseas markets. Australia's agricultural traceability systems include government regulation and industry arrangements that enable tracking and tracing of agricultural commodities and products along entire supply chains. However, there is growing recognition that current arrangements are not adaptable or responsive, have complicated and inefficient data-sharing arrangements, rely on centralised 'systems', include data of variable quality, do not empower data owners and do not easily evolve or grow.AgTrace Australia is a Food Agility CRC led initiative that addresses these identified challenges on the secure collection and use of data for trade and market access purposes. It is expected that this will also reduce duplication through supply chains. This report addresses the first PoC that considers red meat exports to the EU.
