More DescriptionIn late 1971, Australia is involved with America in the Vietnam War and eighteen year-old males have to enlist for army conscription. The Sixties have left an anti-war legacy in youth culture, encouraging them to think for themselves, and to let the world know. Ted is eighteen and due to enlist. His first year of university did not go well. He is not sure about his course, or his girlfriend, or his friends or future. It is all changing too quickly and he is probably indulging in alcohol and drugs too much for a clear shot at working things out. So he has to enlist or break the law and risk gaol. Everyone has an opinion on what he should do; as if he doesn't have enough problems. But there is a third option, to leave the country, so he takes the ?Hippy Trail? and heads overland through Asia to Europe.
