When the new lesiure activity of motorcaravanning became popular in the mid-1950's, it was hardly surprising that converters turned their attention to the Bedford CA light commercial van, which had been unveiled in 1951. The CA and CF ranges were the perfect size for compact camper vans that could nevertheless provide a good level of comfort and luxury. Add in the smaller HA and the later Midi and Rascal models, and Bedford offered a host of attractive options. AUTHOR Martin Watts has had a lifelong affair with period and classic campervans. In 1991 he was the founder member of the Classic Camper Club, an organization set up to assist owners and enthusiasts of campers from a bygone era.
