More DescriptionThe story is set in 1940 against a backdrop of a surrender treaty being smuggled into Britain for signature by Lord Halifax and the ousting of the Churchill Government. The hero is an ex-Blackshirt who runs a black market operation, known as 'The Family'.He is approached by Brendan Bracken, Churchill's Parliamentary Private Secretary, to steal the treaty before it can be signed. Did this actually happen or not? An elaborate operation by pickpockets secures the documents.A striking Spanish spy arrives to invigorate a Welsh resistance group as a diversion for the coming German invasion. She organises a secret drop of weapons and paratroopers - and has a second copy of the treaty.Fleeing Britain for Ireland ahead of the expected invasion/bombing, the hero stops off in Wales with the Family (ex-Blackshirts) paid to help with the drop. The hero seizes the documents during a dash to London to get them to Halifax.Bracken organises the RAF to bomb the paratroopers. Three (explosive experts) escape, on their way to destroy Swansea Docks - the main oil supply for the Royal Navy.In the almost final twist, the hero adds the demolition team to his body count and Churchill describes him privately as "the man who saved the British Empire".
