Roger Ransford Paterson Grounds is fascinated by plants and has written extensively about them in books such as Bottle Gardens (1976), The Private Life Of Plants (1980), Small Garden (1994), and The Plantfinder's Guide to Ornamental Grasses (1998). Known to many as the "grass guru," he is an internationally renowned public speaker.
Born in London in 1938, Grounds attended St. Catharine's College in Cambridge then became gardening editor for publisher Ward, Lock Ltd. in the 1970's. He has worked as head gardener at Moundsmere Manor, Moundsmere, Basingstoke, Hampshire, England.
