Matthew Broderick is an American film and stage actor. He was born on born March 21, 1962 in New York City; his father, James Joseph Broderick, was also an actor and his mother, Patricia (née Biow) was a playwright, actress, and painter.

Broderick first was noticed when acting in an Off-Broadway production of Torch Song Trilogy. He went on to play a roles on Broadway in Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues, both written by Neil Simon. In 1983 he won his first Tony Award for Brighton Beach Memoirs and to date he remains the youngest-ever actor to win Featured Actor in a Play. In 1985 he starred in the film Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which has become a classic film of the 1980's. In the 1990's Broderick protrayed the voice of Simba in Disney's The Lion King movie. He also returned to Broadway in the 1995 and received a second Tony Award for his performance in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He was nominated for a Tony Award again in 2001 for Mel Brooks' stage version of The Producers.

Broderick is married to actress Sarah Jessica Parker. They have three children and live in New York City and Kilcar, Ireland. 030
