More DescriptionThe Poet is not allowed to visit Baikonur. The Ape van breaks down and it is taken to Tiuratam. There, the Ape is sold. The Poet flies on board a carpet, bought at Buccara, and he reaches Tortoli'. All sense lost by mankind is stationed in the moon. The esteemed carpets made in Sardinia. As much as the Nuraghes, the 'Domus de Jana' and the 'Tombs of Giants' are found every where in Sardinia. Places and vicissitudes of Tortoli', the bigest town in Ogliastra, are narrated. The railway line laid in Ogliastra is really tortuous. Emanuele Virgilio, Bishop of Ogliastra, was native of Venosa, a town located in the province of Potenza. Long list of surnames belonging to families living in Tortoli'. The rise of prices (inflation) after Italy was defeated during the Second World War. Bishop Emanuele Virgilio seats on board the carpet. The flight goes on again and after passing over Southern Sardinia the Flying carpet reaches Africa and then it flies to the hidden side of the moon. Hovering over the surface of the moon, both the Poet and the Bishop are surprised to find a Scaidrome, made of a nebulous cluster. The wise minds lived in the past are gathered in the Scaidrome, assembled in sections, one of which is called Sportium because rhe souls do practice sport. The largest section is called Cogitorium, the thinking place. Chloe, a paint by J.J. Lefebure hanging in the Young & Jackson Hotel (Melbourne), is mentioned. Both the Poet and the Bishop are admitted to the gathering held inside the scaidrome. Whoever demonstrated intellectual prowess during earthly life is also admitted, even Nero. The Poet ponders between matter (substance) and shape (form) and he considers that substance is also an apparence of something else (electrons, quarks, neutrinos, etc). C = A - D is an algebraic formula thought by the Poet where C stands for conoscenza (knowledge) and A stands for appreso (learned) and D for dimenticato (forgot).
