Microstructures and Properties of Refractories

While iron and steel industries are the major users of refractory materials, applications in other areas such as power plants and waste incinerators are of growing importance. The appropriate use and maximum performance of the refractories cannot be achieved unless their interaction with the service environment is properly understood. The correlations between the microstructure of these materials and their thermochemical as well as thermomechanical properties greatly enhances this understanding.
