The story is an emotional rollercoaster and provides moments of tender love, laughter, friendship, crime, drama, infidelity, alcoholism and most of all loneliness; experiences shown through the eyes of TC as she grows up and survives this unfamiliar environment, taking her from innocent dependence to independent survival, while never sacrificing her highest standards of integrity and fidelity, ultimately costing her the ability to find true love. Allowing her boss to totally influence her choices and mould her young will, she journeys from Queensland to Victoria and New South Wales, and further afield to the US to sell the opal he mines and she cuts and polishes. Along her hardworking way, she gets to experience motherhood and become an astute and very successful businesswoman in the opal industry in Western Australia, and a polished and well-connected citizen.
