The chapters pay tribute to the fact that Paul Polani's viewpoint is that a multidisciplinary approach to the subject of disease is most effective when motivated by genetic philosophy. On this theme the book provides insight into the latest ideas on the genetics of handicap - including counselling, population cytogenetics, prevention of biochemical genetic disorders, repairing genetic damage, the epidemiology of congenital defects, and the prevention of neural-tube defects.
