Author Biography
Marker, Jamsheed (Author)
Jamsheed Kekobad Ardeshir Marker was born in Hyderabad, India, on November 24, 1922. He attended the Forman Christian College in Lahore, Pakistan. During World War II, he was an officer in the Royal Indian Naval Volunteer Reserve. After the war ended, he worked in shipping and during the 1950s gave radio commentary on cricket.

He started his diplomatic career in April 1965, when he was appointed Pakistan's high commissioner to Ghana. He served as an ambassador continuously over 42 years in 10 posts including France, the Soviet Union, Canada, Japan, West Germany, the United States, and the United Nations. He opened the Pakistani Embassy in East Germany. He wrote several books including Quiet Diplomacy, East Timor: A Memoir of the Negotiations for Independence, and Cover Point. He died on June 21, 2018 at the age of 95.
