More DescriptionFifty years have passed since the Assyrian Sports & Cultural Club's registration in the state of New South Wales. It is important to note that this golden jubilee celebrates the registration and incorporation of the ASCC and not its foundation or inauguration. The ASCC is the continuation of the Assyrian Australian Club, the first Assyrian institution established in Australia in 1966. In 1970, the present name was adopted. The Assyrian Sports and Cultural Club was officially registered in 13 November 1972 and is currently the largest Assyrian national organisation in Australia. The book covers many essential periods and events concerning the club. The early history, multiple attempts to establish premises, various sports and cultural initiatives, club relations and lists of directors are all covered. The authors hope this first publication will be the foundation for a more comprehensive and in-depth book. The authors call upon all club members and Assyrians to donate archival items (e.g., documents, images, videos) related to the club. These items, which they have still kept, can help towards the research for a future book. The authors thank all directors, volunteers, members, and supporters throughout the last fifty years. The authors wish the Assyrian Sports & Cultural Club continuous success and growth.
