More DescriptionThis report summarises the cultural, biological and physical diversity of the freshwater and coastal wetlands of the Mitchell River Delta near the town of Kowanyama (Place of Many Waters) in northern Queensland, Australia. It is based on the work completed to date for the Kowanyama Wetlands Program and associated research projects. The report details some of the Indigenous traditional cultural and ecological knowledge, and much of the available western scientific knowledge of the Coastal Study Area (CSA) (Topsy Creek to South Mitchell River) and the greater Mitchell Delta. It provides suggestions to address on-going management challenges and potential sustainable development opportunities related to Wetlands managed by Aboriginal Traditional Owners in Kowanyama.
