The Magic of Music Theory is a workbook series for string players to teach music theory, aural skills, and composition. Students will learn music theory from the perspective of the viola fingerboard! This series reinforces concepts taught in the lesson with workbook pages, games, and activities to do at home. Students will learn to say music alphabet forward and backwards, what is a string quartet, right hand versus left hand, to identify 1st position fingerboard pitches on all strings, to draw and identify basic note values and rests, dynamic symbols, line notes and space notes, the staff, and identifying clefs. Aural skills covered in this book are up and down, forte and piano, long and short notes, and to identify open strings of the viola. Use this series for private viola instruction, or use it in a group setting. The book for each string instrument is written using that instrument's clef and that instrument's fingerboard.
