More DescriptionMotorized transport has grown substantially in Sub-Saharan Africa. While this has benefited some sections of the population, certain problems need to be tackled urgently. They include inefficient fuel use, the spiralling costs of fuel wastage, the lack of systematic transport management and urban air pollution. This book presents transport energy research findings from two very different countries: highly urbanised Mauritius, which has successfully made the transition to a booming, middle-income economy; and extremely poor, rural Ethiopia, which has just begun the transition to a market-oriented economy. Policy measures are extracted that are appropriate and feasible in the wider African context.
