More DescriptionSelected Proceedings of the 19th Biennial Conference of the International Association on Water Quality, held in Vancouver BC, 21-26 June 1998. IAWQ's 19th biennial exceeded all expectations in the quality and extent of its programme. From a record number of submissions, a record total of 336 papers were selected for oral presentation, striking an attractive balance of research and practically orientated presentations. High quality was ensured by an extensive review process, which enabled the revision and updating of many of the papers that were then selected for publication. Part 7 contains 54 selected papers from the sessions on Activated Sludge Population Dynamics; Biofilm Processes; Biofouling and Biocorrosion; and Anaerobic Biological Treatment. These papers, by many of the world's leading experts, constitute an unrivalled wide-ranging and authoritative compilation of current research into the microbiology and kinetics of some of the most important biological systems, including suspended and attached growth systems. They examine both the fundamentals of the biological processes and their application in water and wastewater treatment and transport. These papers will be an essential reference for researchers, process designers and municipal, civil and environmental engineers.
