More DescriptionMy grandfather instilled in me as I grew up: "Right is right and right never wronged anybody." He lived what he taught, and will always remain my hero. My grandpa showed me unconditional love, and to me that was hard to comprehend. He believed in me when I didn't believe in me. I remember countless times in my life, when I had gotten myself into trouble, the kind that shows where true friends and family are. Some have accused him of enabling me. I agree, he did enable me, but not in the way that they viciously suppose. By his acts of love, he enabled me to see unconditional love, care, concern, and compassion in a way none of his accusers could or would have, and today I can do the same for other people because he did it for me. Many times in my life I have needed faith to see me through situations and help me get to the place where I could help others when I couldn't even help myself. My grandpa did just that and more for me. It is so important that I not only honor him by making public his thoughts and words of encouragement to me, but also share with others his humanness and hopefully others can be helped who have spent years and copious amounts of money, and energy, trying to reach out to someone who is just hell bent on destruction. My words of encouragement to you today are never give up on those you love. Resources may have to stop flowing, energies may have to be reserved, but never stop letting them know how much you love them and how much you believe in them. So many people have helped me in my life, more than I can write about today, but no one ever stuck with me more than my Grandpa Silas Bragg Bishop did. No one stood with me and encouraged me when I was in the throes of addiction and hurting so bad, like he did. I will always remain loyal to God and trust in His unfailing word because of my Grandpa's instruction.Throughout this book you will get a sense of his love and the agape love of the Father God through him. I am going to share with you as much as I possibly can about how he showed his love for me and others throughout his life. So, sit back, relax and enjoy the read; however once you have read this inspiring book of thoughts, personal letters, and experiences, don't stop there. Go back over it a page or two at a time, study it, let the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead speak to you and change you like he changed my Grandpa and me. Let the love of God shine through to you, and the persons in your life you are reaching out to help and love. Never take an opportunity for granted though because you never know when a person will enter into eternity, and the last chance they may have to hear the message of hope and love could come at the very time you decide they aren't even listening, so what's the use anyway. I know because since I have entered into this new way of life their have been times when I didn't think people were listening to me and the next I heard they had died, going into eternity with never another chance to speak or show them the love of God again. Just yesterday, (10 May 2005) I heard about someone I worked with, in whom I was endeavoring to reach out to; had been recently killed in an accident. My last chance to speak to this gentleman and encourage him was on the day the boss of the company unjustly fired me. I had bought this man a gift certificate to take his wife out for an ice cream and that was that, I never saw him nor ever will on this earth see him again. Gone forever, snuffed out as a young man, recently retired from the navy with the rest of his life ahead of him. This is why so long as you and the people you are reaching out to have breath in your lungs it is not too late. Don't give up and what ever you do "Don't Quit"! As a friend of mine sings in a song so beautifully, "God will take no pleasure if you quit".
