(Editor)
Bernard Lown is a Professor of Cardiology Emeritus at the Harvard School of Public Health and Senior Physician at Bringham and Women's Hospitals in Boston. He is also a practicing cardiologist at the Lown Cardiovascular Center in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Along with Professor Eugueni Chazov of the Soviet Union, Lown founded the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War. The IPPNW was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.

Lown's book, The Lost Art of Healing, describes modern medicine as being too technologically dependent and depersonalized.
