Kaplan, Johanna (Author)
Writer Johanna Kaplan was born in 1942 in New York City. She attended New York University and Columbia University.

She taught emotionally disturbed children and was a contributor to Commentary and Harper's Magazine.

Kaplan's works have been praised for its accuracy with respect to the feel of New York City and the lives of Jewish refugees in America. In 1976, her collection of short stories, Other People's Lives, was nominated for the National Book Award and won the Jewish Book Award.
