Ally Ackerley, or Alexia as her mother used to call her, is seventeen, and in her senior year. She's lived in a town called Hayden in Colorado near the Yampa River since she was born. All she yearns for is to spend time at her haven, her creek. Ally lives with her father, Daniel, dedicated surgeon and overprotective parent since her mother died ten years ago in front of her eyes. But her world is shattering as she meets Samuel. It's love at first sight, but still he seems familiar somehow. As her feelings grow, new people arrive at school. Samuel reveals to her that they are all Guardians, sent to Earth to protect and guard, and that they've been looking for her for ten years. Ally soon discovers, that the normal life she has been living so far in Hayden, has in fact never existed, and that she is in an Angel of the Lord. She has to deal with memories from a past she doesn't know, from an old and complicated love story with Samuel, and fight against her childhood best friend, Hannah, who was sent to Earth to destroy her and human kind.
