Proximity and relationships are ongoing themes in this volume which also bears witness to Michael Krüger’s personal encounters with other renowned poets, writers and artists with whom he has become acquainted during his work as director of Hanser publishing house. With each recurring time change, Krüger presents new joys and losses. He reminds us of our own mortality, of the finiteness of nature and our lacking proximity to it. In doing so, however, he also reminds us of the need for celebration, even--perhaps especially--in times of darkness.
