According to USPS data, the operating cost of its field offices in fiscal year 2011 totaled about $1.2 billion-the majority of which (about $1 billion) was spent operating district offices. The total operating costs of USPS's field offices represented less than 2 percent of its approximately $71 billion fiscal year 2011 operating expenses.
