As a member of the Mendelssohn family, Fanny Hensel received an excellent musical education at home. The sister of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, six of her songs were published under her brother's name. She also composed piano works and part songs. Her early death was followed shortly by her grieving brother's death.
