More DescriptionThe impetus for this book came under unusual circumstances. My mother, Anne Raghnild Fagerberg, who was born and raised in the Kingdom of Norway and who never discussed the war with us growing up, visited me one evening at the library at Stetson University College of Law. In this law library were trial transcripts from the Nuremberg Trials. A former dean of Stetson University College of Law, Judge Harold Sebring, presided as a judge at Nuremberg for the Doctors' Trial. While sitting at a study table, I pointed these large green books out to my mother, who shook her head and said, "The books do not do it justice, William. I do not want to discuss this." I prodded her as to why she would not write these matters down as they were historical, and frankly, I was very interested as to what had happened to her during the war, which she rarely acknowledged during her lifetime. My mother was an intensely private person who simply did not discuss matters such as this. Only her death allowed her personal story and experiences to be told.
