"A Gift of Love: Poems" by Robert Janki is a different kind of poetry book - it's one that moves the heart deeply. Some poems are light and airy, and others are deep and philosophical. More Description "A Gift of Love: Poems" by Robert Janki is a different kind of poetry book - it's one that moves the heart deeply. Some poems are light and airy, and others are deep and philosophical. His poems about nature and the seasons - spring, summer, fall, winter, snow, mountains, and gorges, reveal the clear influence of immigration to Canada. He was born in what was then called British Guiana and after independence became Guyana. There is nostalgia for the British Guiana he grew up in and the Guyana he left later in life. His East Indian ancestors are not left out in this poetry book. He writes about Guyana and about his East Indian ancestors in a passionate way. There are also universal themes in his poetry - pastoral scenes, family, love, and the natural order of things. His love for his wife who predeceased him is where the romantic love comes through in his poetry. There's something for everyone here. It's a beautifully illustrated book and his family feel that his poems are a precious gift of love he left for them and want to share them with others. Included is an Introduction to the book by his daughter, Jean Janki Samaroo and Artwork by his son, Ronald Mitra Janki.
