Curl and Roy are based on an autobiographical story of a children whose interests were "kind of weird" for their age. Yet, they followed their passion to learn about these weird interests. From the time Curl and Roy were pulling legs off spiders and wondering why they still moved after they were removed. Curl and Roy's curiosity led them to achieve their dream career as a psychiatrist, a doctor that specializes in the study and treatment of behavioral disorders. Dr. King, the book's author, is the Co-founder of Reach Out To Youth, an organization that brings children into the medical school to fuel their curiosity about a career in the medical arts and sciences. During the program children learn about the human body. Really learning what makes us human. The program answers hard questions like how the human brain works, where do babies come from and what happens when we eat. The book was created to continue the expansion of the Reach Out To Youth program. The proceeds directly benefit this goal.
