The problems with Hero, however, are nothing compared to the trouble Noble finds when his captain sends him and his friend Sir Michael out to discover the source of mayhem on the road to Conwy.

Highwaymen have been attacking travelers near the village of Aber, in particular. The two knights stop at Master Locke's Inn in Aber seeking information when more trouble lands literally at their feet in the middle of the night! The connection to the royal family brings King Stephen and the young prince hastening to Aber only to find the trouble has just begun. Strangers have been asking questions about the red-haired girl hidden in the inn and when she is linked somehow to the prince-well, it puts a target on both their backs!

It takes a hero to save the day but heroes come in all shapes and sizes. No one believes that mischievous little Hero could actually live up to his name-except Noble. "Did I not tell you, William, not to judge people-or creatures-by their appearances?" Sir Noble reminds the young prince. "Hero has a small body, but he has a huge heart! It is full of strength and determination, courage and loyalty! He has the heart of a hero! We look on the outside, but God looks upon the heart, the Scriptures say. And even little Hero can surprise us by what is in his hero's heart!" It is true. With Hero's dogged determination and keen nose leading the way, Noble presses forward with faith and courage of his own in his quest to triumph over trouble.
