I qualified as a registered Mental Nurse and also as a Registered General Nurse. I worked in mental hospitals, general hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, police custody suites, young offender institutes, and a variety of total institutions of every kind.
There has been an awful lot of publicity recently about nursing and a recurring theme in the media is the question as to why hard-working and dedicated people are resigning from jobs which they love to work in Asda or Tesco stacking shelves. I personally am still employed as a Security Guard.
Since retiring from nursing, I have written books, both fact and fiction, mainly about my experiences in prisons. I have appeared on television three times discussing some of the cases I encountered.
