Achievement for African-American Students answers the questions: ¿ Who will successfully teach America¿s children, particularly African-Americans? ¿ Is there a need for comprehensive school policies designed to strengthen the cultural consciousness and intercultural competence of the teaching force? ¿ What attitudes and skills will teachers need to reach their socioeconomically disadvantaged students, particularly African-Americans? ¿ What instructional practices are most advantageous in classrooms where African-American students are the majority enrollment? ¿ Can we as a nation afford to under serve our minority students?
