Adhir and the Rajasaurus
The book is an unique illustrated introduction for children and young at heart to the amazing diversity of India's wildlife including the Indian Lion, the Bengal Tiger, the Indian Rhino, the Indian Elephant and the Ganges Gharial or the Indian Crocodile. The author calls them the Living Heritage of India.
Adhir goes to the museum with his Mom and sees the Dinosaurs. His Mom tells him about an upcoming trip to India. He dreams of going to India where he meets Indosaurus (actual species) and Rajasaurus (actual species). They witness the formation of the Indian subcontinent and India joining up with Asia. There he meets the amazing animal diversity of India including four of the largest land mammals in the planet - Lion, Tiger, Elephant and the Rhino. They explain where in the wild they make their home. They ask Adhir to stay with them but Adhir says goodbye saying he has to go home. The next morning he wakes up and decides to visit some of these places in his dream when he goes to India with his Mom.
The book also introduces via unique illustrations two real Indian Dinosaurs the Indosaurus and the Rajasaurus, the geological concept of Plate Techtonics, the formation of the present Indian subcontinent and the Himalayas when the Indian plate crashed into the Asian or Eurasain plate, millions of years ago.
A reference section includes a Pictographic map of India showing the various Forest Reserves and the nearest airports, a glossary of terminology used in the book relevant to the geography of the Indian subcontinent such as Ganges, Indus and the Baobab tree; a section on India's biodiveristy and a section explaining the IUCN Red List of Endangered species.
