Sarah's grandfather never let her forget what it meant to be able to freely practice their Christian faith, or to educate their children.In 1944, immediately after passing her state board exam to become an R.N., Sarah rushed to the recruitment office to enlist. Long sheltered by her protective, loving old world family, Sarah's enlistment opened her eyes to a vast, new world.
