It's 2011 and Philly wants it all: to practice law; to advance her relationship with Paul, the man in her life; and to be there for her baby daughter, Daisy. More DescriptionIt's 2011 and Philly wants it all: to practice law; to advance her relationship with Paul, the man in her life; and to be there for her baby daughter, Daisy. Having it all requires money, and she and Carpenter, the over-sixty lawyer with whom she collaborates, have few billable hour cases. What they do have is a flood of contingency cases that they need to win to bring in cash. They represent a golfer who lost an eye when struck by a golf shot that may or may not have been deliberately aimed at him, and a seventy-nine year old woman living in an assisted living facility who was seriously injured when run into by an elderly man allegedly racing his wheelchair. They are also enmeshed in a number of he said-she said cases: a fifth grade girl who accuses her father of sexual abuse, a high school junior who claims her English teacher reported her as a suicide risk because she refused his sexual advances, and a college student who claims a visiting lecturer inappropriately touched her. Faced with problematic legal cases, Philly and Carpenter come to realize that they will need to change their approach to practicing law if they want to have it all.
