More DescriptionThis is a 2023 publication of an earlier work done to satisfy requirements of a master's program in nursing, writing in 2008. The citations, therefore, are dated 2008 or earlier and reflect the literature and knowledge on the subject of advance directives, end-of-life, and palliative care nursing training and philosophy and care during that period of time. Nursing care and philosophy have advanced greatly in the years since the completion of this thesis project. As such, this paper is something of a time capsule to the state of nursing patient-care practices at that time. Interested readers are encouraged to investigate current nursing education, training and practice guidelines with respect to these subjects.
