After four years of unexplained infertility, Grace felt like a defective woman. This hardship put a great deal of strain on her marriage with Landon, an international aid worker, who was hardly ever home. Sex became less spontaneous, lacking passion, and more like a scheduled chore planned around ovulation and fertility treatments. They slowly become more like roommates instead of lovers, doomed by their tragic inability to understand one another as they seek out a marriage/grief counselor, Dr. Meredith Newman, in hopes of salvaging what remains of their broken marriage.
