More DescriptionIt's 18:30 hrs the 10 of September 1974.It's pissing down with rain. I'm sitting at Derby bus station waiting for the number 42 bus to take me to Whittington Barracks, Lichfield. I'd joined the Army, the infantry why? Fucked if I know, it was just something to do most of my mates had joined up so I did, I was 16 years old. After serving 2 years as a boy soldier I was now nearly 18 and ready to join my regiment the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters nicknamed the Woofers based in Colchester I went on to serve for another 12 years.A lot of my memories are all too distant now but some things you never forget.First I thought I'd write lots of short stories about my experiences from 1974 to 1988 but there are far too many so I've just written one. Some of what I've written is true, some is fiction but what I've tried to do is recall some of the situations and tied them all up into a story. In my story I've cut down the amount of characters, I've used, it would have been too confusing so I've concentrated on a handful but I think you'll find I've covered every personality. I hope you enjoy it and it brings back good memories here goes ...oh sorry about the bad language but it had to stay in, it wouldn't be right without it.Also in case you have a problem understanding all the army slang you'll find a useful glossary at the back of the book.
