In 2015, Doug Nicholas completed writing his memoirs as a gift to his family - his wife, their two daughters and their spouses, and their grandchildren. His touching and humble recollections take us through his life journey in the context of the many extraordinary events taking place in the U.S. and the world. He honestly expresses his memories with his own personal filter of love, pride, sentiment, disappointment, hope, judgment, loyalty, prejudice, guilt and an array of other emotions. Doug was deeply shaped by his father's interest in sports, his mother's love of reading, and both parents' love of music. As he grew from a child to an adult, a combination of music and literature coupled with religion provided the atmosphere of his family life. In college, Doug met and then married Gladys, whom he attributed to helping him polish his core values and discover his own capabilities, and who shared and enriched every episode along the way. Those who knew Doug were inspired by his constant love and gratitude for his life, his family, his friends and his faith. He will be remembered for his persistence in reminding us, "We are all blessed to be a blessing!"
