More DescriptionBeware the Bumble Bee is a heartfelt story exploring the multiple life journeys that intersect in the campus environment of a modern day university. In the capital of Massachusetts, Boston Renaissance University is a hub of creativity, research, and teaching that sits at a crossroads as it enters into its seventeenth decade of existence. For a public university, funding and budgetary concerns are always an issue, but Boston Renaissance is wrestling with profound financial challenges as it tries to navigate a major campus renovation without sacrificing the quality of experience and opportunities it offers its students and faculty.
Follow incoming student Morgan Saxe, who thanks to a lot of hard work and a full scholarship, has joined her best friend, Sophia, as an aspiring undergrad hoping to prove herself capable in a wholly new setting that bears little resemblance to the home where she was raised by an alcoholic single mother. While Morgan faces challenges that other students might not encounter, from remedial classes to an outside job, she quickly becomes an inseparable part of a talented, young community of fledgling scholars.
At the center of Morgan¿s experience is her mentoring, Harvard-educated creative writing professor, Edward Turcotte. With his encouragement, Morgan overcomes moments of insecurity, including dealing with the hostility and dismissive arrogance of her teacher for critical thinking, the self-absorbed, power-hungry professor Blake. As the various storylines interweave, Beware the Bumble Bee blends campus intrigue, romantic undertones, and personal resilience in a humorous, realistic tale of college life that recounts an inspiring coming-of-age story.
