More DescriptionArt can communicate individual and societal views, adding to dialogue on important issues, like politics. The Bipartisan Collection was created by sculptor Brad Oldham during the 2012 Election Season to celebrate the many ways our political views make us different, while also showing that deep down, we’re more alike than we may think. Inspired by true bipartisan traits of balance, compromise and humor, Oldham sculpted donkeys and elephants in three separate poses to reflect these qualities.
The Bipartisan Collection story takes you through the political party timeline and reveals the rich history of the donkey and elephant used as symbols embraced, celebrated and often mocked by the two predominant political parties in the US. The sculptures in the Bipartisan Collection are driven by this history and inspire collectors to look at politics with an open mind and consider the beauty in our imperfectly wonderful political system.
