More DescriptionThis book is a couple of years in the making. I've started, deleted, and restarted several times over before finally arriving at this point, and now here I am.
Through this book, I dissect different life experiences and outlooks that held me back and kept me from living happily and meaningfully. The ultimate theme I address in this book is regret and how it keeps us stuck in the past. It's easy to long for something or someone that used to be in our lives. It's addictive. It's how we carry them with us even though they're long gone. It's how we cope with a reality we'd rather not accept, but it's self-torturous. Writing this book is how I finally got closure after realizing I hadn't let go of the last person I'd fallen for. I finally got to express everything I'd kept to myself, and I've finally let go.
In my experience, the worse a habit or belief is, the more addictive it is. I also open up about my struggles with procrastination, drinking, insecurity, and just failing to be happy. I'm in the process of letting go of these, but I've certainly started in this book. While it's not a self-help book, by any means, there are practical takeaways that anybody can take and apply to their lives.
I'll end the description by deferring to my sister's words because I don't think I can summarize this book better than she has.
"In his debut work, Kian Kassam pens a reflective travel journal which moves through space and time. A beautifully blended balance of drunk writing, dry humor, and genuine life lessons, Bottles & Waves begins in midair, gets sucked into the bottom of a bottle, and ends at a fulfilled promise. Rather than focusing on the journey or the destination, this book considers the baggage and the ways in which it weighs on us."
