Many private educational schools in the area like Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and LASALLE College of the Arts are also situated nearby.The station is to be an interchange with the future Downtown MRT Line. It will be part of Stage 1 of the line. As the distance between the platforms is relatively long, it will have travellators, the third station after Dhoby Ghaut and Serangoon to have travellators within the paid area.
