More DescriptionAccused of a crime he didn't commit, Scouse Arnold escapes to a new life seeking new horizons, a new career and to write a new destiny for himself in what he hopes is a quiet rural setting, an idyllic unspoiled piece of rural countryside around the village of Montfort St Mary's. However, on his arrival he discovers conflict between three groups. Firstly, a construction company that wants to build over the green pastures, thereby despoiling it; secondly, environmentalists who want to protect it; and thirdly, the landowners who want to make a financial gain from it. On his arrival he goes to the building company, which is owned by the wife of a member of the local land-owning family, the Montforts, looking for work. At the gate he is accosted by a group of demonstrators. The group includes a local girl, Charlotte Slaughter (Sloggi) who is there to protest the cutting down of some magnificent old trees. All Scouse wants to do is have a quiet time to put his life back together but his chances of that recede when two of the protagonists, builders and demonstrators, manage to score own goals. A demonstrator dies falling out of a tree and the building company goes bust leaving Scouse in danger of losing all he has worked for and managed to achieve.
