More Description
The 1850's were steeped in romanticism, mysticism, and intrigue. Not only in Europe, but also in America and Mexico. The amorous adventures of Catrina and Armando are a prime example of this enchanting era.
The stories in this book are set on the mysterious coast of Veracruz, Mexico. Armando and Catrina meet on the night of November 1, the Day of All Saints, and engage in a duel of wits. Catrina challenges Armando to write three stories, to which she provides the setup. He has to write them in such a way that the human characters defeat Death at her own game. If Armando succeeds, he is free to go; if he fails, he forfeits his soul to Catrina.
The stories that Armando writes are fresh and intriguing, and the debates and bantering that flow between Armando and Catrina are real gems of wisdom. Humorous, sometimes audacious, often mystical and reflective, their dialogues delve into the aspects of human consciousness projected to the various planes of existence.
Once you join Armando and Catrina at their exploration of this intriguing subject, never again will you think of Death in the same way.
