The advent of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has led to a realisation that cavernous malformation (CM) is much more prevalent than previously thought. More DescriptionThe advent of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has led to a realisation that cavernous malformation (CM) is much more prevalent than previously thought. With this realisation, and subsequent increased research, has come an increased ability to detect CM in the clinical setting and a clinical-radiologic-pathologic profile has evolved. In recent years we have assembled a wealth of new data on the clinical natural history, symptomatic associations, radiologic features, and detailed histopathologic characteristics of this entity. To-date, no single textbook or reference work has assembled, integrated, or synthesised our accumulated knowledge of CMs. In this new work, experts in the fields of neurosurgery, neuroradiology and pathology have contributed chapters in their areas of specialisation to present state-of-the art information on the nature, clinical behaviour, and management strategies of this lesion for the benefit of neurosurgeons at all levels who may be called upon to manage CMs.
