As Lora and her friends try to recover from their adventure in the Void, new problems arise when Azrael is freed from his prison. He appoints Lora as humanity's champion and tasks her with the responsibility of proving why he shouldn't side with Levi in the upcoming war. After all, he and Levi are of like minds when it comes to their Father. Why shouldn't he use his powers as the angel of death to wreak havoc on the living world and finally usurp God's control over the universe?

Even though the world is on the verge of collapse, Lora and Silas use what time they have left to explore their new connection to one another while preparing for a war that neither of them may survive.
