As Chauncey's coming-of-age journey continues, he matures into a teen always searching for independence. After he decides to camp with his best friend, an unpredictable chain of events soon leads him to spend the night alone at a campsite located entirely too close to an anthill and too many scary noises. As his path leads him into the military and marriage during the 1980s, Chauncey sees the world through the eyes of a young GI. Finally as he settles down with his wife on the outskirts of a New Mexico town, Chauncey soon realizes that his worries will never end--only change with his experiences.
