More DescriptionA cliché is an expression, idea, or element of an artistic work which has become overused to the point of losing its original meaning, or effect, and even, to the point of being trite or irritating, especially when at some earlier time it was considered meaningful or novel. A cliche is, in other words, a metaphor characterized by its overuse. In phraseology, the term has taken on a more technical meaning, referring to an expression imposed by conventionalized linguistic usage. The term is frequently used in modern culture for an action or idea that is expected or predictable, based on a prior event. Typically pejorative, "clichés" are not always false or inaccurate; a cliché may or may not be true. Some are stereotypes, but some are simply truisms and facts. Clichés are most likely found in business and sports. Used conversationally and sparingly, they may succeed. However, the use of a cliché in writing, speech, or argument is generally considered a mark of inexperience or a lack of originality.Shuffled-word is a word game that takes the letters used in a phrase, other than the first letter of each word, and presents them as a collection of alphabet tiles. The objective of the game is to recreate the phrase with the alphabets given. Each puzzle in this book contains a commonly used cliché. The meaning of the clichés used and the letter-count per word of these clichés are provided as additional clues.
